Inca women wove clothes for their families, worked in the fields, and looked after the babies. Men worked in the fields and the quarry. Boys fed the animals, kept predators away from the fields and collected firewood. Girls helped take care of babies and learned how to cook and weave. They wore simple tunics and ate two meals a day. This was what life was like for most Inca families.
The Inca royal family had a very different life. They ate from bowls made of silver and gold and had their food prepared by servants. They wore brightly coloured tunics decorated with elaborate designs. They were believed to be related to the sun and the moon.

This is an Inca tunic I made from a pillowcase and fabric squares. Inca tunics were
often decorated with geometrical designs. |
